A single-vehicle crash on FM 947 resulted in the driver being transported to the hospital. The Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25 to the accident three miles outside of Tenaha on FM 947 where a Toyota Scion left the roadway and rolled.
Tenaha Marshal Tom Reader and Deputy Marshal Brian Gray arrived at the scene to provide emergency assistance.
According to Tenaha Deputy Marshal Brian Gray, Shawn Eugene Valenzuela, 22, of Jacksonville was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion westbound on FM 947. Valenzuela lost control in a curve during wet rainy conditions, and exited the roadway hitting an embankment, which caused the vehicle to rollover.
Valenzuela was transported to ETMC Carthage by North East Texas EMS with minor injuries.
The vehicle was towed by Odom's Wrecker Service.

Scott, was it 11:45 am or pm? that stretch of hiway is deceptive. lots of mud in the road from the big trucks that go in and out near that new pumping station.
