Funeral services for Daphine Slatter Whitlock, 79, of Center were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Basel Slatter officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Center.
Mrs. Whitlock passed away March 20 in Nacogdoches. She was born June 16, 1932 in Neuville to James Thomas Slatter and Loucile Stricken Slatter. Mrs. Whitlock was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Newbern Chapter #1135, where she served as a Past Worthy Matron. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded by parents, J.T. and Loucile Slatter; and brothers:, A.V. Slatter and Quinton Slatter.
Mrs. Whitlock is survived by her husband, Winifred Whitlock of Center; sons, George A. Whiltock and wife, Joan, of Little Rock, Ark. and David W. Whitlock of Center; grandchildren, Celeste Montoya of Silsbee, Jon Whitlock of Beaumont, Samantha Whitlock of Beaumont, Chris Davis and wife, Valarie of Little Rock, Ark. and Rusty Short and wife, Amanda, of Little Rock, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Jayden Montoya, Lilly Montoya and Dominique Montoya; sisters, Reta Betcher of Beaumont and Peaches Conway of Center.
Pallbearers were Basel Slatter, James Welch Jr., A.V. Slatter Jr., Rondall Slatter, Lewis Kim Welch and Marty Montoya.
Honorary pallbearers were her boys at Sam Samford Masonic Lodge #149.
