Sunday was Palm/Passion Sunday. n years past, people would flock to the church each day of Holy Week to remember the passion of Jesus. Going to church that often is in the past so today we celebrated not only Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem with songs and palms we also remembered the high moments and the darkest moments of our faith. The danger is that in our worship we go right from the Hosannas to the Alleluias of Easter Morning. We must never forget to remember the betrayal, interrogation, torture, and crucifixion of our Lord.
We had a nice crowd this morning at Paxton. We sure hope Keith starts to feel better soon. We also send our best wishes and get well greetings to Rita and Bill. We are hoping to see many of our Shelby County (and surrounding areas) friends for the Sunrise Service. The Sunrise Service will be at the Watson home in Paxton and will begin at 7:00 AM. Fannie, Steven Joe, Brenda, and Glenda invite everyone to a wonderful service of praise and then breakfast. We had a small but spirited crowd at Joaquin. Wednesday is Family Night and everyone is invited. It will begin at 6 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., the Trustees will meet and after Family Night the Scholarship Committee will meet.
Thursday morning at 8 a.m. the Prayer Breakfast group will meet. At 2 p.m. will be the Pine Grove Birthday Party. This is not our usual date, so be sure and mark your calendars. At 6 p.m., Joaquin Methodist will have a Holy Week Service which will include Maundy Thursday and Good Friday liturgy and worship. We will celebrate Holy Communion. That same evening at 6 p.m. will be Pickin’ & Praisin’ at Tenaha Methodist.
On Saturday, April 7 at Joaquin Methodist will be the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Party. There will be eggs to hunt, have refreshments as well as gifts for the kids. The Easter Egg Hunt & Party will start at 2 p.m. – rain or shine! Everyone is invited to this community event.
