18-wheeler, car collide in construction zone

A two-vehicle wreck took place at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 on US Highway 96 North between a 2001 silver Pontiac Grand Am driven by Maria Ludiano Maldonado, 41, of Austin and a 2009 grey Peterbilt truck tractor driven by Terry Hebert, 40, of Winnie. As the vehicles were traveling northbound, the car stopped in the roadway, and the truck tractor struck the rear of the car.
Maldonado was transported by Care Plus EMS to Shelby Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Brent Murray worked the accident.
Hebert received a citation for failure to control speed, and Maldonado received a citation for NDL and stopped in prohibited area
