Funeral services for Doris Laverne Mills, 81, of Texas City were held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at First Christian Church of Texas City with Rev. Dr. John Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at Annetta Cemetery in Annetta with Rev. Sue McDougal officiating.
Mrs. Mills passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18. She was born Aug. 17, 1929 in Fort Worth to Marvin E. and Sena Mae Gafford Livesay. She graduated from North Side High School and received a BA degree in Music from Texas Christian University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin E. and Sena Mae Gafford Livesay.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her husband of 62 years, David E. Mills; daughters, Rebecca McDaniel and Karen walker; son, Mark Mills; sister, Julia Baker of Peaster; brothers, Eugene Livesay of Fort Worth, Jess Livesay and Jim Livesay of Arlington and Bill Livesay of Roswell, Ga.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Texas City.
Arrangements were under the direction of Emken-Linton in Texas City.
