Funeral services for Bertha Catherine Emmons, 97, of Center will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Forbis officiating. Interment will follow at Old Center Cemetery in Panola County.
Mrs. Emmons passed away Thursday, April 7 in Nacogdoches. She was born Jan. 23, 1914 in Mansfield, La. to Adolph Ambrose Poissoit and Josephine Poissoit. Mrs. Emmons was a member of Maranatha of San Leon. She worked in Children’s Church, Sunday School and was missionettes director.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Irvin Emmons; sons, Billy Gene Emmons and Roger Doyle Emmons; daughter, Geraldine Emmons; grandson, Tommy Gene Forbis; one brother; and six sisters.
Mrs. Emmons is survived by daughters, Joyce Jackson of Sherman, Dorothy Forbis and husband, Jack, of Timpson, Patsy Jo Stroud and husband, Bill, of Whitesboro, Beverly Dickinson of San Leon and Gail Allums and husband, Danny, of Crockett; sons, Eugene Emmons and wife, Janice, of New Caney and James Emmons of Allen; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Emmons of Bedford; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Emmons of Liberty; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
