Panola College soon will introduce a new website at www.panola.edu. While the site location (URL) remains the same, the design and much of the content are new, according to Ann Morris, Dean of eLearning and Webmaster.

The Shelby County 4-H Food Project kids have been quite busy over the past several months.  In February , the Food Project  began with educational workshops on Kitchen Safety, Food Safety, Nutrition Basics and Public Speaking. During these workshops held, participants practiced this knowledge gained while perfecting their food prep and cooking skills.

As part of National FFA Week activities, Center FFA competed in the San Antonio Agricultural Mechanics Show Feb. 24–26.

Jose Tello, Adan Solis and Moises Arcibar won a Blue Ribbon for their woodshop table. Their advisor is Jon Brandt.

Emily Glass and Billy Pearce won a Red Ribbon for their 16-foot entrance gate.

Jose Cervantes won a Red Ribbon for his 12-foot pasture gate.

Trey Byrnes won a Red Ribbon for his three-point hay spear.

Tenaha High School Senior class have received a beautiful quilt handcrafted by Mrs. Vivian Chamberlain. In turn, the Senior Class will give the quilt away at a basketball game on Feb. 18
Mrs. Chamberlain donated the quilt to the senior class in honor of her children, Woody Chamberlain Jr., Sharon Chamberlain Fleming, Patti Chamberlain Story and Jimmy Chamberlain, all Tenaha Alumni.   
The  quilt features a special monogrammed message in the center: “Tenaha Tigers State Champions Class A 2011.”

The Center FFA Livestock Team kicked off their 2012 show season by competing at  the Rusk County 4-H jackpot show on Saturday Jan 7, 2012
 Center FFA students that participated in the Rusk County 4-H jackpot show include: Alec Lucas - 2nd Place class 2 steers; Kamden Lucas 5th place class 4 steers; Klaryssa Gutierrez 5th place class 6 goats; Adan Solis 2nd Place in  Senior goat showmanship.
Also participating were Moises Arcibar - goat and Haley Denby - swine

Patriot’s Pen Chairman

Judging of District 19 Patriot’s Pen entries  is complete, and the first place winner will advance to the state competition. Congratulations to all students who took the time to enter.
 As a recap, nine Posts in the district had entries totaling 354 students. A total of $3,059 in post scholarships and awards were made with $550 in additional money expended.

All Joaquin ISD campuses will have early release days on Tuesday, December 6th and Thursday, December 8th due to the District hosting the District UIL Meet. Elementary will release at 1:10 pm and JH/HS will release at 1:20 on both days.

The Tenaha Tigers will take on the Bremond Tigers Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 7:30 pm in Crockett, Texas.  Our pep rally will be held at 2:50 pm that afternoon in the SEC.  Tickets for the game are $6 for adults and $3 for students and are only available at the game.

Students at Joaquin Elementary School art classes for the past two weeks have been looking back in time at Texas culture and Texas folk art.
They have seen that it was a time without video games, cell phones, computers, etc.  Too, they looked at and discussed items such as raccoon and mink hides, longhorns, spinning wheels, homemade kitchen utensils and wooden bowls.

Texas A&M will once again open its campus to an estimated 10,000 prospective students and parents during the university’s annual “Aggieland Saturday” Feb. 19.

The popular campus-wide open house is held each year to help prospective students and their families learn more about the opportunities available at Texas A&M.

Sponsored by the Office of Admissions and Records, “Aggieland Saturday” is open to all prospective students, including both high school students and transfer students.
