Terry Bussey made it official on Wednesday. The five-star athlete from Timpson High School committed to Texas A&M after flirting with LSU and Georgia.

Bussey appeared in front of a media onslaught surrounded by his family, fellow teammates, administration, and the coaches of the Timpson Bears.

Bussey complimented Texas A&M, stating that his decision was influenced by the marketing and networking capabilities of the university, which ultimately won the star athlete over. Georgia and LSU remained in the top running for the recruit, but ultimately, Bussey decided to run with the Aggies remaining closer to home. It is a well-known fact surrounding Bussey that family is essential to the young star, and the opportunity of a first-rate education from one of the nation’s leading engineering programs sealed the deal for the Aggies.

When asked about his position on the field, Bussey noted that he felt he would see starting time under the Aggie’s newly revamped program under new head coach Mike Elko: “some on defense, some on offense and special teams,” he stated.

“It was perfect to get to know the people (Texas A&M Coaching staff). They have put together a great group of staff, and I enjoyed meeting some of the players as well,” said Bussey.

“It was a tough decision; Georgia and LSU are great schools,” said Bussey. “I feel Texas A&M will help me overall in life; there are just good people over there,” Bussey responded when asked what put Texas A&M over the top.

He is the only top-100 player in Texas A&M’s class, ranked No. 22.
